WHAT IT’S ABOUT
Comedian Mitch Fatel comes off his successful CDs “Miniskirts and Muffis” and “Super Retardo” to star in his own Comedy Central special, “Mitch Fatel Is Magical.” In this one-hour special, Fatel uses his special delivery style to wax poetic about sex and... well, pretty much just sex.
WHAT I LIKED
I like a good stand-up special, and even if it’s from a comedian that isn’t my favorite, I can find something to enjoy. After all, you can take anything for an hour.
That might seem liek a bit of an underhanded compliment to Mitch Fatel’s stand-up, but if you’re unfamiliar with his work – and more specifically his style – an hour of his comedy might be a bit jarring for you.
In general, I’m not a fan of a one-note comedy show, but Fatel manages to keep things moving throughout his special without getting bogged down too much. But don’t get me wrong... this entire speical is about sex. He comes at it from a variety of angles (which is ultimately what makes sex good in the first place), but it’s all about teh sex.
Case in point, there are six chapters to the DVD: “The Pre-Sex Warning,” “Girls Like Me Now,” “Sex With Horses,” “Super Famous,” “Candycane” and “The Panty-Pull-Aside Movie.” Trust me, the “Candycane” section has nothing to do with confections or Christmas.
So yes, Mitch Fatel can be pretty funny in this special, but one should come warned that it has nothing to do with magic and everything to do with sex.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
As I said previously, I prefer my comedy to be a little varied. So, I was hoping that Fatel would eventually swerve into a different topic. Sadly, no. He’s a bit like a horny thirteen-year-old boy with the obvious one-track mind.
Fortunately, Fatel comes at the comedy in his “simple,” child-like manner. He doens’t bring everything down with a string of profanity, but rather looks at sex from the very immature wee-wee/hoo-hoo angle. I wouldn’t say it’s something that you can show your kids, but you can watch it with a kids’ mindset and still get all the jokes.
DVD FEATURES
The DVD comes with some minor special features, icnluding interviews with the fans (which comes off more like a Mitch Fatel commercial) and an animated comedy bit. There’s also some outtakes and a behind-the-scene look at the photo shoot for the cover box.
WHO’S GOING TO LIKE THIS MOVIE
Mitch Fatel fans and anyone who wants to look at comedy from an immature sexual perspective.
